“RECRUIT RUSSIA 2011/12”

    Russia is an expanding and an emerging market for UK boarding schools.

The demand in Russia for English-medium education is increasing rapidly, due largely to dissatisfaction with their own education system amongst a growing proportion of wealthier Russians. Other factors include:

* the improving economic situation in Russia following the global economic downturn;
*the relaxation of internal constraints on commercial activity;
*the open recognition in Russia of English as the language of global business;
*the privatisation of some of Russia’s key oil and mineral resources;

*the resultant increasing incidence of individual wealth generation.

These factors coincide with the demand from UK schools for students from Europe to (a) counter the
impact of an increasingly challenging UK demographic outlook, (b) broaden the cultural diversity of their international profile and (c) compensate for reduced UK demand for boarding places following the economic downturn.

@school-in-UK’s response in support of UK schools is to offer ‘Recruit Russia’, an annual package of

promotion and recruitment opportunities designed to raise schools’ profiles in Russia and to bring

students from Russia into UK schools.

For the fifth year running , in 2011/2012 we will be undertaking exhibitions, seminars and presentations, as well as developing our links with Russian schools, educationalists and other education providers. This year we will concentrating additional resources on our now significant and ever-growing database of contacts and clients.

2. Seminars:

@school-in-UK will present a range of seminars promoting UK education to audiences drawn from our

own and British Council networks.

3. School visits:

Visits to local schools will assist in forging relationships with counterparts in Russia, enhancing

future recruitment opportunities.

4. On-line Placement Service:

Schools participating in ‘Recruit Russia’ will be given preference for enquiries from Russia made

through our on-line placement service.

‘Recruit Russia’ can accommodate a limited number of UK schools - a mix of prep, co-ed and girls

only, some offering IB.

 The cost to schools joining for the first time for the 12-month programme is just                                                         

                                                      £3,350.

Successful placements will attract a 10% commission. Schools are advised to offer fee-paying, short-

stay places for younger students as precursors to longer-stay placements. Schools are responsible

for promotional materials reaching our staff in Russia.
