Four Great Opportunities for Dutch Students

1.  A programme offering individual Year 11 / Klaas 4 students the opportunity of full boarding accommodation and tuition in a mainstream UK boarding school alongside UK students for between two weeks and one year.

@school-in-UK has developed close links with particular UK mainstream schools that have expressed an interest in creating links with schools in the Netherlands and Belgium. The schools we are working with have an international outlook and significant experience of welcoming international students.

Typically, UK independent schools are situated in ideal environments and enjoy extensive campuses. In addition to academic facilities and boarding accommodation, campuses have sports and cultural centres maintained to a high standard as well as areas for recreation and leisure. Students enjoy small classes (10 – 20 students), high quality teaching, a full programme of extra-curricular activities and homely boarding houses with 24 hour care and attention.

The anticipated age of the visiting students would be between 15 and 17 years. The anticipated length of stay is one term (September to December and/or January to March), though it could be as little as two weeks or for up to one year.

The cost for full boarding, tuition and extra-curricular activities is in the region of GBP7,800 per term or GBP780 per week. Additional costs will be travel, insurance and personal spending money.

3.  Spend the final two years of secondary education in the UK studying for A Level examinations (the English equivalent of the VWO certificate) or the International Baccalaureate

A two year immersion in British education and culture through a stay at a high quality UK independent boarding school will give you a head start in your future career. UK schools attach enormous importance not only to high quality education, but also to a rich programme of sports and cultural activities.

This programme is not only attractive for VWO pupils, but also for good and enthusiastic HAVO students, since the A Level certificate requires study in just 3 subjects, thus offering Dutch students the option of specialising in their best subjects in order to qualify for university entrance.

The International Baccalaureate is also available.

4.  Widen your horizons and gain a perfect knowledge of the English language, which is a “must” in our global world, by attending English language courses for one or more weeks

English courses can be arranged in an academic institution, a summer school or in your own tutor's home. Courses are for one week or up to one year. Preparation for English language examinations is available. English for academic purposes as well as English for specific purposes, eg, Medicine, Law, Business, etc. are very popular, especially with older students and professional adults.
